Roke's Bend Modern Craftsman: A Spillman Signature

Jeremy Spillman, our founder and owner, is known for his creative and inspired design. Typical Spillman Homes are built in collaboration with homeowners and our professional design team. But every once in a while, Jeremy gets the chance to build a house that’s all his own. These are Spillman Signature Homes, and they embody Jeremy’s design style and innovative thinking.

Take a tour of the latest Spillman Signature Home to get a look at Jeremy’s favorite features. We know you’ll love every detail of this artisan home.

The home’s exterior design sets the tone for what’s to come. The white board and batten siding, dark wood entrance, and pop of textured stone gives the design balance and interest. The minimalistic black windows give the classic craftsman a more edgy, modern look, while the lantern-inspired light fixtures on the porch make the entrance feel warm and inviting.

Gold and brass rectangular chandelier that is both modern and classic

The glass front door opens to a sleek entryway, which features white walls, a continuation of the exterior color palette, and matte, wire brushed hardwood floors. Hanging above is a rectangular brass chandelier, which has a lantern-style design that mimics the outdoor fixtures.

The formal dining room sits at the front of the house. With dramatic black chevron paneling and a low-hanging brass chandelier, this room represents the home’s overall style. To finish off the look, we styled the dining room with beautiful pieces from Hockman Interiors . We used furniture and furnishings from Hockman Interiors to decorate the entire home.

Custom new build in Columbia, Missouri with built in bookshelves

The open-concept floor plan gives the six-bedroom house an airy feel. The dark wood beams turn the ceiling into a statement feature, and they tie in the sleek mantlepiece. The modern fireplace is framed by white-glazed white oak built-in bookshelves, which are as functional as they are beautiful. And by using another brass chandelier, Jeremy ensures the room feels cohesive with the rest of the home.

Unique home in Columbia, Missouri with modern kitchen

The one-of-a-kind kitchen perfectly blends masculine and feminine design. The light green lower cabinets are offset by the raw wood upper cabinets, and the matte black fridge is contrasted with brass handles. The second island has a rugged base and a delicate-looking quartz countertop. In this room, Jeremy opted for woven light fixtures to give the space warmth and additional texture, but he used brass hardware to match the rest of the home. And for extra storage and style, a wet bar was added to the dining area.

Energy efficient stove in a luxury house that doesn't use much propane

This home was built in rural area that doesn’t have the luxury of natural gas. To combat this, Jeremy designed the house to limit the use of propane, which can be a costly burden on homeowners. The electric fireplace, high-efficiency dual furnace, electric water heater, and dual-fuel oven all limit the need for propane. With a few strategic decisions, Jeremy made this an energy-efficient household.

Bathrooms are one of the best places to take design risks. He gave this space a bold look with patterned tile, exposed wood, black paneling and gold hardware. To top it off, he installed an ultra-modern light fixture.

Large bathtub in newly built Missouri home

Jeremy designed this master bath around the dramatic beaded chandelier that he fell in love with years ago. The bohemian piece inspired the light wood cabinets and heavily-veined, faux-marble tile, which was purchased from Erdel and Wood. The basin tub and oversize shower both feature luxe gold fixtures, and the window-inspired glass gives the space both separation and style. This luxurious, spa-like bathroom shows that sometimes, it’s okay to build a room around a fixture that you love.

Basement bar and kitchen area with subway tile and gold hardware

As if the first floor of the home wasn’t show-stopping on its own, Jeremy added a full bar area to the walk-out basement. The space features open shelving, classic white subway tile, and custom cabinets that are designed to fit a full-size refrigerator - or simply act as a gorgeous storage solution.

Every detail of this home was made to impress, from the bathroom with mixed metal hardware and patterned tiles to the wide array of stunning statement lights. It wouldn’t be a Spillman Signature without these thoughtful design elements.
