A: Yes, Spillman Homes is licensed and insured, as are all of our subcontractors that will be on site for your project.
Q: Can you give me references from prior home buyers?
A: Yes, you find testimonials from previous clients right here, and we're happy to provide a reference list.
Q: Do you build model homes I can tour? If not, can you help me make an appointment to see a home you built for another customer?
A: Yes, we have a model home and always keep at least one other home staged. Any of our homes under construction are available for a scheduled walk-through. You can find hours for our model home on our Contact page, as well as a form to schedule a meeting.
Q: How and when can I make changes or upgrades before and during construction?
A: With our new cloud-based system, we can easily manage change orders and upgrades through the web. It is as simple as opening it up on your phone and approving your upgrade by providing an electronic signature. Think of it as a project manager you can fit in your pocket.
Q: Who should I contact with any questions I may have? Who will oversee the construction of my home?
A: A project manger is assigned to your build and will be available to answer any questions you might have. Jeremy Spillman, owner, also plays an important part of overseeing each project and is also always available for questions or concerns.
Q: Do you work with realtors?
A: We feel that realtors play a very important role in the housing world. We will happily work with realtors and have also teamed up with our own team to assist you in whatever your needs may be with buying or selling your home.
Q: Who do I contact for warranty work after closing?
A: Spillman Homes takes pride in honoring their warranty work and will promptly assist you in your warranty needs. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment. If an emergency arises you will be given a direct number for contact.
Q: Can I choose my own subcontractors?
A: No, simply because all of our subcontractors have to meet our insurance requirements and have a proven track record. We've established long-term relationships and trust with our subcontractors and feel confident they'll care for our clients.
Q: How does financing work? Do you get a construction loan or do I?
A: Each project has a unique set of circumstances, but for at least 90% of our projects the home owner only has a one time closing, just like they would on a normal real estate transaction at completion. Our partner lender, Flat Branch Home Loans, has an office in our model home. They can approve you on-site or you can follow this link to get in touch with them directly.
Q: Where do you build your homes?
A: We can build anywhere in the Columbia area and immediate surrounding communities. We also have lots in Fox Creek and The Vineyards you can build on. For more information about subdivisions we're currently building in, click here.
Q: Do I need to bring my own plans? And if I have a plans can you use them?
A: House plans depend on what type of build you're doing. If you have your heart set on plans, then custom homes could be a good fit for you. However, if you don't know where to start and need help choosing the best plans for your home, semi-custom building could be an excellent option.
